Basic Borg started as a quartet in The Hague 2005. Musical leader Manolo Cabras, envisioned an electro-acoustic band that playsstructures while keeping the fresh approach you can find in improvisation. Influences of Miles Davis, Paul Bley, Ornette Coleman can be heard.
In the summer of 2010 they were offered a residence in the Musiques Aux Présent Féstival, Narbonne, an occasion to put 5 years of bandwork on tape. Basic Borg took this opportunity to invite the Italian Tenorplayer Riccardo Luppi that shares their musical spirit and the same love for surfing on the boarderlines of structure and non-structure.
