Lynn Cassiers: voice, fx, compo – Manolo Cabras: double bass, fx, compo
Belgian singer Lynn Cassiers (YUN, Tape Cuts Tape, Lilly Joel) and Italian bass player Manolo Cabras (Toots Thielemans, Enrico Rava) have been playing together for almost 20 years. Being long time allies, they’ve collaborated in different projects together of which each had it’s own peculiar space on the axis between jazz and electro-acoustic improvised music.
Flying Nimbus is the most intimate version of this partnership, inhibiting space with electronic textures and songs of both Cabras and Cassiers. Throughout their repertoire one can always here a far echo of jazz. A curious combination of elements, treated freely and crafty into Flying Nimbus’ peculiar universe.
PRESS
“(…)a rock-solid performance by a duo that guarantees a universe all its own that is mastered to perfection while exuding a spontaneous appeal. (….) In short, it was a concert that immersed you in a universe with an enormously wide range that always remained anchored in a vision that was as clear as it was idiosyncratic. Moreover, the duo has landed at the enviable tipping point where playing music actually becomes playing with music, and that is something that will always impress, mouth mask or not.”(Guy Peters for Enola Magazine)
“L’univers est fascinant et propice à un imaginaire où tout est permis… surtout la mélodie. Car la mélodie est là, omniprésente, en fil rouge ultra délicat.”(Jacques Prouvost for Jazzques)
